Mikromusic is one of the most interesting groups to recently emerge on the Polish music scene. They create an earthy fusion of acid-jazz and indie-pop delivered through the bright, angelic vocals of Natalia Grosiak. Mixed together with subtle hints of trip-hop and Jazz, this mélange of styles has forged a truly distinctive sound which puts the group in a league of their own. The enigmatic voice of Natalia Grosiak together with the incredibly talented mikromusicians has allowed the group to gain wider recogni- tion year after year.
Mikromusic have released three albums to date. Their debut album 'Mikromusic' featured guest appearances including, Leszek Możdżer, the world-renowned Jazz pianist.
In late 2008, the much awaited second album 'Sennik' was released. The title, which means 'dream' reflects the repeti- tion of words woven into the theme of sleeping. The music draws on eclectic sources, including Jazz, Trip-hop, Funk, Bossa Nova and even Folk Music. This is blended with the poetic, womanly lyrics of Natalia Grosiak.
The autumn of 2010 saw the release of the third album entitled 'Sova'. This album includes 11 original tracks. Of particular interest is the current project of translating and recording the album in English language, which has taken a lot of careful work, has very promising results and is set for release soon. On this album, you can hear the genuine enjoyment of the musicians on countless songs as well as areas of untamed improvisation. Additionally, the album features some impressive guest appearances: Natalia Lubrano – the phenomenal vocalist with 'Miloopa' and Joao Teixeira de Sousa, the Portuguese singer-songwriter.
The group who hail from Wrocław, Poland, present their music in a dynamic and energetic fashion on stage. Using their talent and skillful arrangements of songs, the group create a micro-climatic relationship with the audience during live performances.
Mikromusic have played opening concerts for world class acts such as Macy Gray and Lura. The group were also nominated for the 'Yach' award for the music video of the single 'Sennik'. What is more, the group were also nominated for the prestigious 'Camerimage' award for their music video of the track 'Thank God I'm a woman' along with Depeche Mode and Coldplay.
The leader of the group is Natalia Grosiak, one of the most original vocalists in Poland. She also composes the majority of the songs and writes thought-provoking lyrics. She represented Poland in 2006 at the Red Bull Music Academy in Melbourne, Australia. She has recorded and written songs with musicians from around the world including Brazil, Australia, France, England and Italy.
