The People The Poet - Throw The Boy In To The Wind (Album Demo) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Nov 29, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
'When I received the story, it was a story which was very different to the rest. I knew Mike from sharing the same stage with him - he is a singer himself, so to receive a story from another musician was a huge compliment as singers are always searching for inspirations or stories that inspire our lyrics. So, for him to pass it on for me to write was really nice of him. It mean't extra pressure so I approached differently to the others. The song ended up being one of the bands favourites 'cause it gave us the chance to explore a new sides of us. The song is the wildest thing we've ever done cause we wanted to give that feeling of an old train going wild and off the tracks. The story is so tense and it keeps you guessing right to the end, the first time I read it I expected the worst.'

Lyrics

The train it run on sighs
The world and it's ignorance
Compressed and pressed up against the door,
In the shape of a young mother and it's child grabbing at the handle into our minds
"Rattle-rattle"
"Tut-tut-tut"
He climbs out of the window, into my stomach,
The child hangs there like morning sickness
He's hanging in our eyes
But yet the child is not mine
Throw the boy into the wind

Ignorance is louder than all.
The train it run on sighs of relief,
As the boy jumped down to say goodbye to his dad on the telephone,
Then his mother walked by to the other side of the train and left him all alone.
Rattle-rattle
Tut-tut-tut
He climbs out of the window, into my stomach,
The child hangs there like morning sickness
He's hanging in our eyes
But yet the child is not mine
Throw the boy into the wind

The train run on low esteem
Whilst the child run off the rails
The whole train was tutting
They could see it slowly coming,
But still they kept on running, right on track
All willing to turn their back
And let the kid die
Why?
Fear of confrontation
Onomatopoeia station
Sitting within the miscarriage
I picked up some courage
I cut the cord from my stomach
And pulled the kid down From out of my mind
The child was kicking but he did not cry
The train stopped
The kid got off
the world carried on being ignorant
