I am pleased to feature Adam Roberts and Jake Odmark from Apollo Link (http://apollolink.nyc), and Kevin DeJesus-Jones in singing this arrangement of our national anthem. Having grown up an Army brat, Americana music is very dear and nostalgic to me. Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays, and I am excited to launch this series in time to celebrate the United States of America.

Although our country is going through a heap of issues, I believe that our history and the progress of positive change is important to remember. As a society, we should strive to learn and grow from our past mistakes and triumphs. We still have the opportunity to stand tall, and I pray that does not change anytime soon because our “flag [is] still there,” waving “o’er the land of the free, and the home of the brave.”

“The Star-Spangled Banner”

O, say, can you see by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?

And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through he night that our flag was still there;

O, say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave,
O’er the land of the free, and the home of the brave?
