Grounds (Jacob De Haan) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Sep 21, 2009
DESCRIPTION:
The title for this composition is taken from the "Grounds" which occurred in 16th, 17th and 18th century English keyboard music. In these grounds, the bass and the chord progressions formed the basis for a row of variations.

This form of composition was the source of inspiration for Grounds. After the stately and ornamental introduction, the lyrical main theme of the composition follows.

This theme forms the basis for a series of variations, in which the focus of the theme is shifted to a climax, after which the composition is brought majestically to a close with the main theme in its original form.
