Michael Manring is an extraterrestrial trailblazer on the bass guitar. He is known for playing an instrument he designed called the Hyperbass, which allows him to change the tuning of his instrument while he plays. He is a student of Jaco Pastorius and worked closely with Michael Hedges through the 1980s and 1990s.
We sit down with Michael for more than an hour and talk about his musical background and his approach to music.
