DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of Michael Kocour, the Concert Jazz Band in the Herberger Institute School of Music is the premier large ensemble of the Jazz Studies program at Arizona State University. Students study and perform music from the classic big band repertoire, as well as commissioned works, student compositions and recent works by contemporary jazz composers.

Composer, pianist, and keyboardist Wayne Horvitz performs extensively throughout Europe, Japan, and North America. He is leader and principal composer for the quartet Sweeter Than the Day and performs regularly as an improviser on both piano and electronics throughout the world.
