All About GIrls & Women / What Is A Boyfriend - DJ Tommy Edwards 1958 - Video
PUBLISHED:  May 07, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Tommy Edwards was a prominent DJ at W-E-R-E in Cleveland at the same time as Alan Freed took off in NY, and in his heyday, crossed paths with Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran, Henry Fonda, Michael Landon and many others, but Edwards brought Elvis Presley above the Mason Dixon line for the first time in 1955. Edwards enjoyed unprecedented access to rock, pop and country music's biggest stars. (I've included a shot of Edwards with the Everly Brothers) He captured artists with Ektachrome film as they visited W-E-R-E's studios to plug their latest record, or at the many high-school sock hops that he presented between 1955 and 1960. Edwards shot more than 1,700 slides, the best of which are featured in '1950s Radio In Color' and are featured in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
As far as I can tell, this narrative didn't chart, although there seem to be a few floating around in England. One source says 1957 but the Dot catalog lists it as 1958. Get ready for gems like "A woman is a thing of beauty and a jaw forever". I suspect he isn't around because some 'things of beauty' got to him first. No rights Given or Implied --

Hope you enjoy this slice of '50s (with an orchestra directed by Milton DeLugg, of course -- oh man, I just looked Milton up and he not only produced Buddy Holly's Rave On, he wrote Orange Colored Sky for King Cole, The themes for the Newlywed Theme, The Gong Show, the Dating Game and was the bandleader on the Tonight Show just before Doc Severinson came along!)...
