Nirvana - Mexican Seafood (Guitar Cover) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 15, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
"Mexican Seafood," was one of the songs on Nirvana’s first-ever studio demo, recorded on January 23rd, 1988 produced by Jack Endino with the Melvins' Dale Crover on drums . It was originally released in 1989 on C/Z Records' Teriyaki Asthma Vol. 1. The song's choppy guitar chords and Kurt's pseudo-English accent point to a heavy British post-punk influence (Cobain's 50 favorite records included Gang of Four, Public Image Ltd. and the Slits among others). The song's lyric, I believe, are about bodily functions as Kurt describe to us what happens if you get food poisoning. Mexican seafood is, as some of you might know, notorious for food poisoning. It could also be a reference to Kurt Cobain's intense and ravaging stomach disease, but I believe he’s stomach problems did not get really bad until a few years later.

Equipment used: Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar, Boss DS-1 and Fender Mustang amp.

Tuning: Half step down.

Lyrics: All the itchy flakes, it is a flaming
All the gels and cremes it is pertaining
To a fungus mold cured by injection
Hope it's only ah, a yeast infection

Oh well, it burns when I - it hurts when I pee
Oh well, it hurts when I - it hurts when I see

Now I vomit cum and diarrhoea
On the tile floor like oatmeal pizza
Fill my toilet bowl full of a cloudy
Puss, I feel the blood becoming chowder rust

Oh well, it burns when I - it hurts when I pee
Oh well, it hurts when I - it hurts when I see

Roll into my bed which does consist of
Lice, bugs and fleas and yellow mucus
Stained dirt, vaseline, toe jam and booger
Stomach acid worms that dance in sugared sludge

Mmmmm ...
