Menfolk is the sound of defiant, adversarial, complex rock that can not

easily be tamed. Rumbling, rattling and down right angry - sometimes

it feels good to just to let loose. Menfolk lets loose on the new album

"Beast One / Man Nil".

"Beast One / Man Nil" is Menfolk's long awaited sequel to the massive

debut album, "Colossus". 5 years have passed and we haven't seen or

heard much from these guys. But Menfolk has never been a band that let

demand dictate the output: Records are released when they are ready, and

concerts are played when the right time comes. This attitude can be heard

on Menfolks new album. This band is not sucking up to anyone. This is not

radio friendly rock, not young fashion punk, not cool laid back rock or the

soundtrack to a rebellious generation. The four strange fellows in Menfolk

drag the listener around by their ears on the 10 tracks of the album by

means of guitar feedback, twisted drum beats and fierce texts about life and

death. Menfolk do not make compromises - for this recording Menfolk even

designed and built a lot of the equipment them selves - and the artwork for

Beast One / Man Nil displays some of this equipment.

Menfolk has once again produced the album themselves but unlike previous

recording sessions Menfolk decided to not be all alone on the recordings of

this album. Building on the successful cooperation that Per Chnöeldh of

Menfolk and Jakob Reichert Nielsen have experienced on previous

releases (Lack "Saturate Every Atom", Rising etc.) Menfolk decided to invite

Jacob in. Jacob participated in the first recording sessions and has

subsequently been responsible for mixing the album. Bob Weston (Shellac)

has been responsible for the gentle mastering that really gets the music

"out", while keeping the dynamics of the recording.

Menfolk has existed since 1999 and consists of drummer, guitarist / singer

and two bassists. Outcome of the unconventional line-up with two bassists

is edgy aggressive rock in its own form and expression. Complexity, noise

and nerve lay the foundation of this music, which does not let itself be

confined by the limitations of conventional rock. It ´s an anarchic take on the

sound of rock when set free from all constraints.
