MEL TEAM PLUGS

C’est en 2000 à La Rochelle/West Coast que MEL TEAM PLUGS balance ses premières notes inspirées par les moteurs de l'époque (BURNING HEADS et consors). C’est donc le punk rock qui est à l’honneur (ou le hardcore, au choix) à la manière de ANTIFLAG ou PROPAGANDHI sans oublier une touche plus ensoleillée esprit GOOD RIDDANCE. Coté scène, un seul mot d’ordre : Rock’n’Roll ! Des riffs puissants et intenses à sauter partout, et quatre chants distincts qui distillent une énergie brute pour un échange maximum avec les aficionados. Coté textes, MELTEAM ne se veut pas un groupe militant mais dénonce ouvertement les maux d’un monde où les règles d’un ultra-libéralisme ont rarement si peu fait le bonheur des peuples…

Deux démos ne suffisent plus pour sortir de la cité Rochelaise. MELTEAM se met à bosser pour pondre un premier EP 8 titres « How Far Is The End ? » en 2003 chez Humaniti Records. Cette galette, plutôt bien reçue par la presse indé et par le public qu’elle réussit à toucher permet au groupe d’avancer dans sa quête : ils goûtent ainsi aux bières de nos différentes contrées grâce à de nombreuses dates aux quatre coins de la France et dégustent aussi les fabuleux houblons fermentés belges et hollandais pour terminer aux calimuchos espagnols durant leurs tournées européennes.

Après quelques temps de travail en famille et de repos au boulot, l’envie d’en découdre pousse le groupe à mettre en boite leur nouvel album ‘Be poor and die’ avec Sylvain Biguet aux manettes (COMITY, KLONE et dernièrement les potes de DOWN TO EARTH). Le skeud sort finalement sur Chanmax Records au printemps 2008 dans une superbe version digipack pour les fervents supporters de la cause (chanmaxstore.com et aux concerts) et sur le net en écoute et en téléchargement gratuit (chanmaxrecords.com/melteamplugs).

Aujourd’hui le groupe cherche à découvrir de nouvelles liqueurs locales en arpentant les rades et salles du monde entier…

It’s in La Rochelle (French west coast) that MEL TEAM PLUGS started playing in 2000, inspired in the first place by French punk-rock legends BURNING HEADS. As they dig all sorts of punk rock, their style ranges from hardcore in the vein of the likes of PROPAGANDHI or ANTIFLAG to sunny Californian rhythms a la GOOD RIDDANCE. On stage goes one word and that is Rock’n’Roll! Powerful and intense riffs that will make you jump everywhere, and four distinct vocals gathering a wicked force. For their lyrics, MEL TEAM PLUGS (though they don’t belong to any political church) express how they feel the weight of the world, where conservatives (even when introduced as being neoconservatives) never achieved the people’s happiness…

Being hard working at rehearsals, they soon started to get out of Charentes Maritimes. They released a first 8 track-EP “How Far Is The End?” in 2003 on Humaniti Records. The disc was very well received among kids and alternative press, and it enabled the band to go ahead to reach their goal: to taste every beer every country has. This dream comes true step-by-step, first by touring nationally in front of a growing audience, and then by playing gigs in Belgium, Holland and Spain.

While actually working and having families, the whole band is thirsty for adventures and that is just why they recorded their first full-length “Be Poor & Die”. They did it with Sylvain Briguet of PARWEEN, who is also responsible for the sound of DOWN TO EARTH, another band from La Rock’Hell. Long time supporters Chanmax Records proposed themselves to release it, and so they did spring 2008 in form of a neat digipack that true fans and people who still care can buy at the shows or at chanmaxrecords.com/store.
