“Med in Mars” is our latest edition to the “Se-Lek-Music” stable with a very unique sounding ep that was a must to sign.

“Mehdi Boucetta” (Med In Mars) is a talented DJ / producer from Marseille France.
He’s been quite an active figure on the circuit for some time with releases on labels such as “Traum”, “Suffused”, “Baroque Records”, ”Clinique Recordings” and many more.

He’s a very clever producer with a sound, which is very unique to say the least and has the ability to forge an array of influences together seamlessly with flair. There’s some real detail to his output with great energy that builds in an educated way whilst providing his own signature.

As a DJ he’s also quite an emerging talent with an impressive amount gigs under his belt which includes “Caprices Festival Crans Montana (Switzerland)”, “Ibiza”, “Zenzibar”, “Guy's Bar (Koh Phangan, Thailand), “I Love Sundays (New Caledonia)”, and “The Gallery (London UK).

Getting into the tracks on this ep we have a sound, which was inspired by “Mehdi” visits to “Thailand”. These visits were to provide a new outlook and vision for his music and that is evident in the sound.

The title track “Dark Dance” is a real cross merge of influences, which make it unique. It has the undertones of a driving techno sound but infused with some really nice arpeggiated synth lines that cross into the progressive domain. It’s got a good energy to the track and detail that you notice the more you listen.

Next up is “Hangover” which prompts thoughts of the 2nd edition of the film carrying the same title based in “Thailand”. Here we have really great percussive work with a kind of old school techno chord reminiscent of sound used in “Da Hool” - Meet her at the Love Parade”. Again very detailed with whispering vocals and dynamic builds.

“Nightmare In The Kitchen” has more of modern funk approach and probably best described as “Tech House”. Its more melodic that the other tracks and provides a great balance over all to the ep.
