Having worked with many artists in a huge array of genres all around the UK, Europe, & the world, MC Soom T is now resident on MySpace!
Soom T is the Glaswegian wonder known to many for her eclectic vocal stylings and mass collaborations having shared a studio and over 50 record releases since 1999 with the likes of The Orb, T.Raumschmiere, King Creosote, Miss Kittin, The Bug, Mungos Hifi, Bus, Asian Dub Foundation and many other style defining artists, securing Soom T's coveted position as an innovator of originally developed music discipline.
Having spent the last 10 years releasing and recording, Soom T's character has become reknowned within the industry as a buoyant, comedic and somewhat eccentric one with an exceptionally virtuosic ability, definitive inimitable style, distinctive sound & strong politio-spiritual viewpoint permeating her own powerful poetry, gradually gaining the Indian-Scot a burgeoning cult like following with fans eager to commute from various countries to witness her rare public appearances increasing drastically with each new release & performance.
Having been influcenced by Hindi Ghazals from the 50’s, Punjabi Bhangra, the hiphop of the 80's and electro, rave and punk of the early 90's her influences range from Rage Against the machine, Pink Floyd and Queen to Christie Moore, Tasmin Archer, Col B (Colin Baker) and Commodore 64 game soundtracks.
Her current projects include recordings with Scottish Reggae soundsystem masters, Mungos Hifi, Gypsy Rock 8 Piece 'We Will Be Millions', a collaborative folk music album with Scottish supergroup 'Burns Unit', Prodigy-esqe co-produced project No Step with ex-Senser producer and production partner Hagos and consistent vinyl releases with her homegrown crew & label Scotch Bonnett for which Soom T dedicates to writing and recording for a forthcoming album and frequent international live shows with the Mungos reggae crew whom she considers to be the best in the world as well as releasing on Jahtari, Police In Helicopter, Kraak Records, Livity and many other independent labels worldwide.
Soom T has been deployed to MC and deputise for many serious acts including The Bug, Senser, Miss Kittin and Aphex Twin and has toured extensively throughout Europe including festivals such as Roskilde and Sonar which hosts music pioneers and significant artists of the future. She has won many awards including BBC Fame Academy Bursary Award (2005), PRS Fopp Award (2005), PRS Atom Award (2006), SAC Funded in 2008 and 2010 and various others whilst her vast catalogue of releases continues to appear on radio playlists worldwide.
On recording several tracks with Disrupt and fellow label mates Maffi in 2008, Soom T discovered a production vibe undoubtedly suited to her progressive vocal output and vowed to dedicate to the new found sound known simply as Digital Laptop Reggae (DLR). With a bundle of shows with Disrupt and several riotous crowd churning sets having left a firm imprint on European audiences, with more recent tours of Scandinavia, Japan, China, USA, Canada and Mexico in 2010 alone the Jahtari and Soom T marriage is shaping to be a union of legendary proportions.
In 2011/the much anticipated double vinyl 12” LP album will be released on Jahtari. 'Ode To A Carrot' is an ode to all things funny, jolly, nice, relaxing, weed related and everything but serious. Keep your ears to the ground for the bass rumble that will shake you to the core. Catch Soom T spreading the word of truth, peace, justice n not being a dick around the world. Word!!!! (Bio by Steven Mann)

BURNS UNIT - HOW IT ALL BEGAN BELOW AND IN 2008 THE BURNSONG HOUSE BECOME, THE BURNS UNIT.
On December 3rd 2006 8 songwriters from the UK were brought to a remotely located mansion in the Highlands of Scotland to write a unique set of songs to be performed at 2 specially organised shows over a one week period. The writers were Kim Edgar (competition winner who won the prize of a week in a songwriting house) with Emma Pollock (Delgadoes), Karine Polwart (Scotland), Kenny Anderson (King Creosote), Sushil K Dade (Future Pilot Aka), Chris Difford (Squeeze), Michael Johnston (Canada) and Soom T. The result was a unique and beautiful set of genre crossing songs performed over a 2 half sets concert. Expect some of the songs written during this spectacular experience to appear on Soom T's first solo folk, Gyptek and Roots music album to be released through Root 8 in 2009.
5 years on and the burns unit are THE BURNS UNIT: WHAT A JOLLY OLE TIME WE HAVE AND U CAN TOO.
