DESCRIPTION:
35 high-school singers from Chapel Hill, NC, recorded this version of "Thirteen" by Big Star, written by written by Alex Chilton and Chris Bell. The song was performed at the end of a week-long, Summer Recording Workshop, offered by Community Chorus Project at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The program is directed by Seamus Kenney, a public school teacher at Smith Middle School in Chapel Hill. Student participant, Julia Stamey, created the choral arrangement. The soloists are Ellie Dusek, Nick Young and Sarah Gleiter. The video was shot and directed by Michael Lucas, and was filmed during this performance at the Cat's Cradle in Carrboro. The track was recorded live by Ellis Anderson, and was mixed by Chris Stamey of the dB's, and Ellis Anderson.The chorus was accompanied by Elijah Fox Peck (keyboard), Avery Logan (drums) and Kabir Kumar-Hardy (bass).
