Meet Matt Skinner. Matt was born in Virginia, but lived much of his formative years in Iowa. First, Des Moines, then in Iowa City, which is where he got his start really playing music. Matt has been playing since he was about 17. He is a lefty, though he plays instruments right handed (and very well, I might add). While in Iowa City, Matt found himself playing in a few bands over the years, such as Jinsen Connection and The Gglitch. It wasn't until he and brothers Adam, and Austin Morford banded together to form Tallgrass that Matt really found his stride as a musician.

The band formed in Iowa City, but has since relocated to Fort Collins, CO. In addition to being a revered part of Fort Collins music scene, the band also has their own recording studio, in which they have helped a multitude of other artists put records out. This list includes, but is not limited to Von Stomper, Derek Blake, and Whippoorwill. Currently, Tallgrass is mixing their 3rd Album to date, titled 'Laughing'.

However, Matt's talents are not strictly limited to his time in Tallgrass. His solo performances are a thing of beauty. You are sure to be drawn in by the first soulful moments. Very proficient on both guitar and banjo, Matt enjoys playing and experimenting with open tunings. Drawing from many influences, his songs are honest and soulful, with beautiful depth.
