Electronic music producer, DJ, Dubspot Instructor and Logic Pro course designer Matt Shadetek explains how to make a preverb reverb effect using Logic's versatile Space Designer, which allows you to sculpt unique spaces.

In this short tutorial we'll look at how to create a preverb effect. Reverb is what we hear when a sound reflects off the environment that it's heard in. If you clap your hands in a cathedral you'll hear a big long reverberation. Preverb is when we have a reverb which happens before the sound source. It's a great way to create a lead in to a sound and is often used as a transitional moment in songs. It's popular with vocals, which we'll demonstrate in this video with a vocal by Karla Xeno but it can be applied to any sound source.

For further exploration of the EXS24 Sampler and Logic Pro be sure to check out Dubspot's six level Logic Pro Producer Certificate program designed by Matt Shadetek. In the six levels of the course, both in our online school and physical classroom in New York City students will learn to create a four track EP, starting with a set of musical sketches and developing them over the course of six levels, refining their craft as they advance.
