In this video review and demo, Matt looks at the Orange Rocker 32 Guitar Combo Amp.

The Orange Rocker 32 Guitar Combo Amp is the ideal choice for pedal users thanks to its all-valve stereo format. Equipped with a 2 x 10" speaker configuration and collection of valves, the Orange Rocker 32 delivers a powerful projection whilst keeping the footprint small. Pedal users can benefit from the stereo effects loop which offers a full host of tonal options for any pedal board, from spacial tones to futuristic soundscapes. A choice of two channels is also offered including Natural and Dirty. The Natural channel features just one control for volume and is voiced for absolute transparency, while the Dirty channel has a more traditional tone with Gain, Master Volume and a three band EQ. Players can also benefit from the half power mode for a choice of different output levels. Like all amps from Orange, the Rocker 32 comes dressed in the legendary basket-weave grill cloth, signature 'picture frame' edging and iconic hieroglyphs on the control panel for an iconic look.

Video transcript:

I’m Matt and I’m here to have a play with the brand-new All-Valve Rocker Combos from Orange Amps. There are two available, the Rocker 15 and this, its big brother, the Rocker 32.

This is an all-valve 30 watt stereo guitar amp in a compact and portable combo format. For the orange fans out there it’s called the Rocker 32 because it’s the brand-new version of the previously seen Rocker 30 combo and head.

The Rocker 32 can be run just like a ‘normal’ combo, straight in or with standard mono effects loop connections. It has classic Orange mojo in abundance and its 2×10” configuration means a full and fat delivery whilst keeping the footprint small. There’s even some clever circuitry under the hood to give the amp a wider spread of sound than most regular twin speaker combos.

At the heart of the Rocker 32 is its all valve stereo effects loop with two separate valve output stages which opens up a world of limitless possibilities for your pedal board. If you’re into epic panning delays and massive soundscapes, connect the Rocker 32 for full stereo operation for enormously spatial tones.

If you’re more old-school, you can patch your pedals in ‘wet/dry’ mode, with your effects appearing on one speaker and your clean guitar tone on the other. This makes for great separation and clarity on stage.

So - let’s take a look at the channels.

The front end of the Rocker 32 is one-of-a-kind. The Natural channel features just one volume control, and has been carefully voiced to bring out every nuance of different guitars, pickups and pedal combinations. Single coils ring out with true clarity and humbuckers sing with woody overtones.

The Dirty channel has a more familiar look to it with a three band EQ, gain and master volume controls, and can be set clean or adjusted for different flavours of British crunch. There’s also a handy half power mode to drop the volume level if you like to push the EL84 output valves a bit harder for more saturation. This switches the Rocker 32 from the full 30 Watts down to a more home-friendly 15 Watts.

As you would expect from an Orange amp, the Rocker 32 has a high build quality and a clever dual output stage design and a 2x10” speaker configuration that makes this amp sound much bigger than its dimensions would suggest.

The custom Voice of the World Gold Label speaker and beefy transformers deliver plenty of punch and potency and take full advantage of its 4 x EL84 output section and it has the same proprietary transformers found in their iconic Terror Series.

So, if it’s the perfect pedal amp you want or just the classic Orange tone in a compact and portable format, this Rocker 32 amp gives you both in abundance.
