My Roots Girl Riddim - Cornel Campbell / U-Roy / Ilan Smilan & Med Tone All Stars -promo video - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jan 19, 2017
DESCRIPTION:
We’re happy to continue our musical journey with two new 7" releases from reggae legends Cornell Campbell and daddy U-Roy.

My Roots Girl + Rootical Skank
The original gorgon, Cornell Campbell, coming back with 'My Roots Girl', a new rocksteady lovers song voiced over an original riddim by the Med Tone All Stars band.
Due to the authentic rocksteady sound and the beautiful voice of Mr. Campbell, it's hard to believe this song was recorded in 2016 instead of about 50 years ago.
On the flip side we're featuring 'Rootical Skank', a heavy weight dub version mixed by Asaf Smilan in the style of King Tubby's early works.

My Ethiopian Queen + Queen Of Sheba
Our second release over this riddim featuring daddy U-Roy, the master toaster and the inventor of the Jamaican dj style.
'My Ethiopian Queen’ is a classic dj version to Cornell's song that takes the listener back to the early days of reggae music.
On the flip we're bringing you 'Queen Of Sheba', an instrumental version by the master guitarist, Ilan Smilan, playing beautiful calypso melodies in the style of the great Ernest Ranglin and Lynn Taitt.

The riddim was recorded and mixed at the Med Tone recording studio with analog tape machine and vintage gear that can reproduce the original Jamaican sound from the early 1970's.

The new records will be exclusively available on our web store:
