Bear and the Butterfly - Greater the fear, Greater the happiness - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jun 09, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
"Bear And The Butterfly came together as an experiment in musical diversity gone horribly wrong. four teenagers, paul, joey, jason and andy, came together as a group of kids who "wanted to play all kinds of stuff, man," but then realized that playing as loud and as heavy as they possibly could was just a lot more fun. paul liked the foo fighters a lot, andy liked saves the day a lot, joey liked deftones and thursday, and jason loved sunny day real estate. how the four of them ever ended up playing this kind of music together remains unclear.

after about a year of playing shows in DC with bands like del cielo, tradition dies here, and stop it!!(ok, so that was only one show), paul left the band. their last show with paul on bass was unfortunately anti-climactic, when montgomery county's finest party-busting unit broke up a show they were playing at jason's house, and breathalized everyone only to find that the kids who had been drinking were all from virginia. figures. james willett soon joined the band and remained the bassist to the end.

after brief forays into touring up and down the east coast, as well as a night spent setting off fireworks and skinnydipping in the ocean in charleston, SC, the band played their last show on july 27th, 2005, with mass movement of the moth, polar, and danke, at the warehouse next door in washington D.C., their live shows were well known for consistenly featuring technical difficulties, out of tune guitars, awkwardl and uninformed attempts at socio-political commentary, and paul joyner lying on the floor, gasping for breath by the end of the set."
