Mary-TÂ plays guitar, sings and writes songs an artist who has never played by anybody else's rules.
She's paid plenty of dues , having many adventures, and unearthing little gems of songs along the way. Mary's gigged everywhere from smokey bars, Irish Pubs, flatbed trucks in parking lots, strip clubs, halls, and roadhouses, to ampitheatre stages. Mary played in a number of bands in Southern California and Oregon, and has shared the bill with Lydia Pense and Cold Blood, Nina Hagen, Fishbone, Mojo Nixon, The Beat Farmers, Robert Gordon, and more.
She started off playing a used $35 dollar Harmony Archtop guitar her Dad bought for her. Soon, she got hold of a Strat copy and was jamming with neighborhood boys on a stage her Dad built in the garage. No wonder she feels so at home when she's on stage.
While honing her guitar skills she started singing and writing her own songs. Both her singing and her songwriting blossomed as she racked up more and more experience. Mary incorporates both lead and rhythm in her guitar playing for a full, rich sound. Fronting a blues rock trio playing 5 nights a week was a great learning experience. Mary also plays acoustic guitar, slide guitar, bass, keys, harp, lap steel and likes to noodle on the drums. These skills provide a rich pallete for creating her original music.
