Be Melting Snow - Myra Melford & Marty Ehrlich - Video
PUBLISHED:  Aug 29, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
Here we’re performing my piece, "Be Melting Snow", which really highlights the exciting energy and beautiful tone of Marty Ehrlich's saxophone playing and the connection we have. Subscribe for a new music video every week this summer: http://bit.ly/1S8mBVl

I first heard and met Marty when I was a college student in Olympia, WA. He was performing in a local venue (the Gnu Deli—where I was introduced to many of the musicians who would later become my mentors and colleagues) with the bassist John Lindbergh. Not only was the concert new and exciting for me, the fact that they were touring the country performing such creative music made me aspire to do the same.

Fortunately, I got to know and work with Marty after I moved to NYC in the mid-80s. He played in my first quintet, the Extended Ensemble (with Dave Douglas, Lindsey Horner and Reggie Nicholson) in the early 90s. We formed a duo later in the 90s, and since then have played many concerts and made two recordings, “Yet Can Spring” and “Spark!”
