English description: This is from an event which has become tradtition at the Ólavsøka festival in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands. Ólavøks (Sct. Olav's Wake) is the national holiday of the Faroe Islands. It is held on 28 and 29 July, the midnight singing starts at midnight on the night between 29 and 30 July. Lots and lots of people gather in the center of Tórshavn between the Parliament building and the City Hall of Tórshavn on a place called Vaglið. The municipality of Tórshavn gives for free a booklet with around 20 songs (in 2011 it was 19 songs), Faroese songs, which people then sing from 1 to 19. After the singing people can dance the tradtional Faroese chain dance. It is difficult to coordinate the dance because there are thousands of people and normally it is one person who sings the first words, here he needs a microphone or else no one would hear him.
This song on this film was written and composed by Martin Joensen. It is called Ró which means Peace. Beautiful poem.
