Dies ist ein Lied, von dem vermutet wird, dass es von Schmieden gesungen wurde, während sie Hufeisen herstellten. Auf der LP "Síamsa - The National Folk Theatre of Ireland (1976)" ist eine Variante zu finden, die die Geschichte eines Schuhmachers erzählt, aber Angelika und Siobhán entschieden sich für die Hufschmied-Version; wir stellen uns vor, dass das "Ding Dong" im Text das rhythmische Hämmern bei der Arbeit symbolisert.

This is a working song of a blacksmith as he shoes a horse. On the LP "Síamsa - The National Folk Theatre of Ireland (1976)" you can find another version of this song, which tells the story of a shoe maker, but as Angelika and Siobhán go horse riding together they decided to opt for this one. We imagine the "ding dong" to be the rhythmic sound of the blacksmith hitting off the iron horse shoe.
