This riff showcases the lush, layered gain and powerful punch available from the Mark IV mode with the graphic EQ in Channel 2 of the Mark Five 25. The Graphic EQ is set to the Classic ‘V’ position, scooping the mids while boosting bass and low mid punch and dialing the upper sliders for additional cut and presence tuning of the saturation. Because the Graphic EQ is located at the end of the signal path in the Mark Five 25 (and all Mesas), just before the power section, this makes it a POWERFUL tone control that delivers a tremendous amount of toning options in addition to, and beyond the amp’s tone controls. Used together, the possibilities for frequency and tone variation is almost limitless.

In this video, the 2x12 Rectifier Vertical cab is adding it’s own killer range of tight but resonant bass and accurate low mid punch that should be pushing some air through your speakers or headphones at home. 2x12 Rectifier Cabinets are a great match for the Mark Five 25, as well as Thiele 1x12s and the popular Mini Rectifier 1x12 Extensions. The video almost doesn’t do the tone justice as you have to be in the room to feel the punch, volume and bass to believe it from this 16.5 pound powerhouse amp.

Recorded with the Bridge Position pickup of a PRS Singlecut through the MK IV mode of Ch. 2 into a 2x12 Rectifier Vertical cabs loaded with Celestion Vintage 30 speakers. Recorded with a Shure SM 57, Shure KSM 313 and the Mark Five: 25 on-board CabClone. Mixed with varying levels of the mics and CabClone for each clip and mastered for optimized output.
