Good Vibrations - Marky Mark and The Funky Bunch featuring Loleatta Holloway (1991) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 26, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
"Good Vibrations" was a rap-dance song by American hip-hop group Marky Mark and The Funky Bunch from the album "Music For The People" and was released at the end of 1991. The song became a number-one hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. "Good Vibrations" was written by Amir 'MC SPICE' Shakir, a good friend of Donnie Wahlberg, Mark Wahlberg and Dan Hartman. The rapper/songwriter also wrote and produced "Wild Side" for Mark Wahlberg's debut LP as well as three other songs. MC Spice is featured on the song "Peace" with Mark and the crew and also contributed to their second LP. It has no connection to The Beach Boys song of the same title. The song includes portions of Loleatta Holloway's track "Love Sensation", and she is credited as a featured artist on the single. "Good Vibrations" is the only number one song for both Marky Mark and Loleatta Holloway. "Music For The People" was the debut album by Marky Mark and The Funky Bunch. The album was a success, reaching #1 on the Top Heatseekers chart, and #21 on the Billboard 200. Along with "Good Vibrations", the album spawned an additional top-ten single, "Wildside" (#10 on the Billboard Hot 100), as well as the minor hits, "Peace" and "I Need Money". The album was certified platinum by the RIAA on January 14, 1992. The song "Good Vibrations", and most of the album, was produced by Mark Wahlberg's brother Donnie Wahlberg, who is part of the group New Kids On The Block. Marky Mark and The Funky Bunch was a hip-hop group led by Mark Wahlberg. The Funky Bunch consisted of Wahlberg (alias Marky Mark), Scott Ross (alias Scottie Gee), Hector Barros (alias Hector the Booty Inspector), Terry Yancey (alias DJ-T) and Anthony Thomas (alias Ashey Ace). After the success of "Music For The People", the group quickly recorded a follow-up entitled "You Gotta Believe" that was released on September 15, 1992. However, the album achieved little success, only making it as high as #67 on the Billboard 200. The group disbanded in 1993 with their last appearance being on the Super Mario Bros. movie soundtrack. After the group disbanded, Marky Mark continued his music career by teaming with reggae musician Prince Ital Joe. The duo released two albums in Europe and had a #1 hit in Germany with "United". Mark Wahlberg continued to release music until retiring in 1998 and becoming a successful Hollywood film actor. This channel is dedicated to all the great rap music from back in the day.
