Getting his start in the power-pop band SR-71, Mark Beauchemin made a name for himself with his melodic ear and intense stage presence. Their debut album Now You See Inside (RCA) produced by Gil Norton (Pixies, Foo Fighters) went gold on the legs of the first single 'Right Now.' After two years of touring capped off by opening for Bon Jovi, and a second release, the band dismantled. Mark went on to put together a band featuring an extremely talented singer/songwriter and grabbed numerous awards for best regional act in the Mid-Atlantic. With no record deal in sight however, the two decided to part ways. Taking some time off and concentrating on writing and recording Mark got the call to audition for Vanessa Carlton. It was immediately obvious that he was the perfect choice for the Grammy nominated singer/songwriter/pianist. After appearing on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Regis and Kelly, he has been touring with her as she supports her latest CD Heroes And Thieves (Universal). The two also just recorded 'More Than This' acoustic with producer Rupert Hines (Rush, Stevie Nicks) for The Art of Peace Foundation: Songs For Tibet- The Art of Peace. The Art of Peace Foundation announced today that over a dozen of the world's top musical artists, including Sting, Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Suzanne Vega, Rush and Duncan Sheik are coming together for an album entitled, "Songs for Tibet - The Art of Peace." The project is the artists' expression of peace and support for Tibet and the Dalai Lama
