Another throw-back coming at you...

This time the way-back machine drops us somewhere, smack dab in the middle of the 1990s ('94 or '95?). I'm about 25. The mullet and sports jacket of my '80s persona now replaced by a Cobain-esque long, stringy pageboy and matching goatee.

This video, featuring my old, production partner Anthony Erice on lead guitar and the talented Sonya Parthe on backing vocals, was shot live for an "MTV Beach House" contest in the lounge of the recording studio Anthony and I co-owned for many years.

Copping a bit of a low budget, "MTV Unplugged" vibe here, I think the deal was if you won the contest you got to perform on MTV, live from the deck of their beach house in the Hamptons. Not a bad gig if you could get it.

Unfortunately, we didn't win, but months later I received a runner-up certificate in the mail from the good folks at MTV. We didn't take the big prize but I guess we were pretty darn close.
