MALAKAI was formed in the Summer of 2004, by Jon Saultz(guitar), Chris Forsythe(Vocals), Jamison Becker(Drums) and Joe Gaydos(bass). All long time veterans of the Colorado music scene, the four members of MALAKAI quickly established themselves as serious contenders for the heavy music crown. The independently released debut ep "Chasing Demons" garnered praise from around the globe, with the title track being chosen as garageband.com "Track of the day." Critical acclaim followed as MALAKAI was voted "2005 Best Popular Music Group" by the Pikes Peak Area Arts Council. Promoters and club owners have taken notice, as the band has been asked to share the stage with such underground heavyweights as Machine Head, Suicidal Tendencies, Devildriver, Goatwhore, Soilent Green, Chimaira, Cancer Bats, Cattle Decapitation, Vader, Zao, Otep, The Acacia Strain, Bury Your Dead, 3 Inches of Blood, Into Eternity, Demiricous, Walls of Jerico, August Burns Red, Silent Civilian, Bleed The Sky, and It Dies Today, among others. November 24, 2006 brought the release of "Funerals," the crushing next chapter in the MALAKAI legacy, which sold out of it's initial pressing in one month. Branching out into the adult film industry, MALAKAI music was featured in Misty's XXX Girls Volume 5, to rave reviews from perverts the world over. The band went on hiatus in 2007, with Gaydos relocating to the East coast, Becker moving on to other projects and Sualtz and Forsythe working on side projects. 2009 brought the return of MALAKAI, as Forsythe and Saultz were joined by new drummer Todd Morrison (Grindscape, Seven Year Coma) and bassist Brian Voorhies (Chebedda, Intake, The Color Insane.) After a year of steady shows, Malakai entered Crooked House Studios in early 2011 to begin recording their latest offering "Monday." Released on April 1 2011, "Monday" is easily the bands heaviest record to date. Available now on itunes.
