Major Matt Mason USA - Your Biggest Fan - Video
PUBLISHED:  May 18, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
Taking his name from a popular 1950s Mattel action figure, he relocated to New York City in 1993 after a college career spent with various math rock, post-punk, and noise rock combos, remaking himself as a master of modern urban folk and earning high marks for his clever and insightful songwriting. In 1999, drawing on the inspiration of Daniel Johnston's D.I.Y. approach for recording and releasing albums, Mason founded Olive Juice Records and began to produce albums by obscure anti-folk artists from New York City's Lower East Side.

I first heard of this guy when he played a support slot in Glasgow (can't for the life of me recall who, but it had something to do with Shoeshine Records) and was blown away buy his stripped down acoustic, singer-songwriter approach. His nature rapport with the audience in what was his first tour outside of the US made him sound as if we'd known about him for years. Picked up this album at the show as a result. This track is the opener from the album Bad People Rule The World.
