M.A.D & GOYA info

MAD & GOYA was formed in the time of war, in the summer of 1993. The founders of the band were Blaza ( back then only on vocals) and Toma (drums). The band practiced really hard with a wish to sound like a thrash core band. And then followed many gigs in the area of Vojvodina.

In the mid ..90s, the band picked up a more European death metal sound in their music, and so we can say that MAD & GOYA is a cult metal bend in Serbia, by being active since 1993!!

As friendship is beginning to grow around, metal core bands such as Wrum, Debeli samuraj, Chronnoss came in touch with MAD&GOYA. Reviews of the bands live shows and interviews were always presented in fanzines, because back then there were no licensed magazines who wrote about extreme genres of metal.

1997. was the year the band enters in studio called matrix and recorded the first official material called "Prisoners of the damned". The album has 8 songs and was self-released in MC format, strictly limited to 200 copies. The vocals were growled brutally, lyrics were pessimistic and the guitar were razor sharp. Underground distributors distributed the tapes, all around Serbia an ex-Yugoslavian grounds.

In 1998, MAD&GOYA showed up on two compilation tapes for kids without parents, and which was a compilation about poor childhood in a small town called Sombor, and where underground metal was showed up almost all active death and black metal bands in that time.

With help from Radio 021 and show "high voltage", the band in 2000 promoted their music in clubs in Novi Sad with bands like No Abuse, Amentes, Death End and revived the NS metal scene.

Quickly after MAD&GOYA officially became on the CD/MC compilation "Scream until YU like it" (released by rex records), and continues to promote their music.

Theory of chaos zine in the year of 2000. released raw CD of the band live performance at Kikinda which was called "Live at Kikinda".

Branko Rogosic from REX rec. decides to help the band by re-releasing "Prisoners of the damned" on MC format.

After a brake , because of military duties the band finally found the energy to record the long awaited second full-length album , which was recorded in a studio called with the help from their ex-bassist Radovan Skoric, this time helping the bend production and mixing process. He found a specific sound for the whole band with "The number of the beers", the band got into the total trash core, death punk attitude and sound and got more specific, with humoristic lyrics on Serbian language.

GOYA is a beer drinking god from Vojvodina, the keeper of alcoholic souls. The material was sent to the never dying warrior Bane Lokner, who decides to release The number of the beers on his label called Buffalo revenge records. After that came the album promotion ( Apatin, Sombor, Subotica, Novi Sad, Beograd, Cacak, Senta) with their metal brothers Kuga, Analizaror, Ashen Epitaph, Wolfs Hunger.

The highest point in the long career of MAD&GOYA came in 2006 by playing two concerts (In Sarajevo and Belgrade) in front of the cult German band:TANKARD.

In 2007 The band for the second time hit the international level by playing a concert in Hungary. Now, in the middle of 2007 the band finished recording their third full-length material, which is now being mixed in studio.

The new album is called: "Put Olindralih Avlijanera" (The road of shabby garden dogs) which will be also represent the true old-school MAD&GOYA spirit. The well known image of the band is still present with a sarcastic and humoristic lyrics.

The band is currently in the studio, recording NEW Mad & Goya material which should be released in late 2010!
