It's fifteen years since Lowlife UK first appeared on the West Yorkshire punk scene and, while a lot of bands have come and gone in that time,

these guys have ridden out the waves of popularity and fashion to deliver their sixth studio album, "The Hypnotised Never Lie". Don't let The Who

connection fool you though - this is no concept album of harmonies, hooks and opera! Followers of the band will be used to the hard rock-influenced sound and this offering sees them develop that style and challenge themselves harder than ever. It's the logical move following in the wake of 2007's "Desert Island Dicks" album of cover versions that showcases just where it is that they're coming from.



Taking their cue from that experience, the songs on THNL reflect the band's heightened awareness of songwriting, most noticeabe on cuts "One More For The Road" and the pounding opener "What's The Point". The traditional cover version is The Stooges' "I Got A Right", covered by many, mastered by few and Lowlife's version is arguably one of the best you're likely to hear for a long time. Hardcore roots show themselves in the Orwellian "Listen & Obey" and the progressive "Down In The City" while surefire crowd pleaser "Don't Let 'Em" balances things out with it's street punk crucifixion of the people who make our daily lives a misery. Almost without trying, Lowlife have managed to capture the grey mood of modern life - sleepless nights, hard drinking, divorce, compromise and light it up with defiance and the experience that only time served can bring.



THNL delivers everything you've come to expect from Lowlife UK - no-nonsense hardcore rock that brings together the likes of Motorhead, Poison Idea and AC/DC - and takes it to the next level. With their reputation as one of the better live acts on the circuit, their time has surely come.
