The White Noise Orchestra/TWNO is initiated in 2010 by contrabassist and crackle boxplayer Raoul van der Weide as an ongoing experimental project. TWNO functions as a 'pool' of improvisers dedicated to the concept/point of departure and representing creative performers form different background: acoustic music, dance, light design and live-electronics. TWNO explores and develops systematically the possibilities of collective improvisations in the context of low dynamics and sparse but unpredictable configurations of sound, noise, and pitch structures. TWNO's specific approach represents a fascinating artistic challengeand and outspoken contribution to improvised music as a vital tradition. TWNO performs in shifting formats between trio and full 16 piece ensemble.
