Playboy Short, one half of Lost Tribe, was born Alex Mamatuki. Now 24 years old, he has been rapping since he was in middle school, at the age of 13. He was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he started by freestyling with friends and battling older kids around the city. This lead him to believe that he can do something with this rapping thing. His influences are Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Jay-Z, E-40, Tupac and other pioneers in the game. Teaming up with Eddie Monster(Maae), they formed a group called, Lost Tribe. The original group had other members who eventually left the crew, leaving Short solo. Eventually, Short and Eddie crossed paths and the duo started dropping mixtapes, which lit the city with a buzz. ''Look out for the new mixtapes, because the city hasn't witnessed music like this. The album will raise the bar for any local or poly hip hop artist. We are not only gonna put our city on the map but we are gonna open up doors for everybody to get fed. We dont ask for handouts. We understand the fact that everybody wants to get paid, everybody has an angle, and as long as we aren't getting the low end, we have no problem helping you get what you need also''. Playboy is the youngest in the crew but has been doin this for a minute, a young cat with a grown mind. If I could describe Lost Tribe in one phrase it would be, ''The Complete Game''.

Eddie Monster, the other half of Lost Tribe, was born Eddie Maae, and is 25 years old. He has been rapping for five plus years along side, long time friend and rap partner, Playboy Short (Alex Mamatuki). Eddie was born in Fayetteville, N.C. but moved to several places before making his home to Salt Lake City. His influences range from Tupac, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Scarface and Dr.Dre, just to name a few. With there 5th mixtape ''On Top Of The City'' just out, the spring mixtape coming ''All Eyes On We'', and the album, ''The Last Of The Best'' in motion, a great year is expected for these young artists who have been on the grind since day one. ''We're a really focused and determined group. I love making music, ''period'', regardless if we sell or not. If somebody happens to like what we say, or can relate, then good for them. People get the misconception that we make our music for them, so they feel as if they have a say, or that gives them a right to criticize what we say, or who we are. I'm a set the record straight for everybody, Lost Tribe makes music for Lost Tribe, so don't get it twisted.'' He goes on to say, ''We are very accomplished in what we do, I know we'll be where we need to be if we just keep pushing.''
