MESA/Boogie® Lone Star® Ch. 2 DRIVE – Vintage Mid Gain - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jul 01, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
Channel two of the Lone Star is extremely versatile, capable of offering an alternate clean sound to your channel one settings – OR – delivering renowned Mark I gain sounds with the DRIVE mode engaged. This clip highlights the thick, vintage-styled midrange overdrive popularized by the Rolling Stones and other classic rock bands of the 60s & 70s.

This clip was also recorded using the 50 watt selection of the Lone Star’s channel-assignable Multi-Watt™ feature, while the 10 watt selection would add even more power section clip with higher Output/volume settings. Finally, the Lone Star’s Switchable Bias feature accommodates the use of EL-34s which adds the signature British bite and even a bit more crunch as you crank up the Gain, Masters and Output.

Recorded with the Bridge Position Humbucker of a Les Paul into Ch. 2 of a Lone Star with the DRIVE Mode engaged and the Ch. 2 Voice switch set to ‘Normal’. Wattage was set at 50 watts into a 1x12 Lone Star® 23 cabinet loaded with a Mesa® Celestion 90 speaker. Mic’d with a Shure SM57 and a Sennheiser 421.
