Catherine "Kate" Bush, CBE (born 30 July 1958) is an English singer-songwriter, musician and record producer. Her eclectic musical style and idiosyncratic vocal style have made her a notable performer in the UK . In 1978, at the age of 19, she topped the UK Singles Chart for 4 weeks with her debut single "Wuthering Heights", becoming the first woman to have a UK number one with a self-written song. She has had 25 UK Top 40 hit singles, including the Top 10 hits "Wuthering Heights", "The Man with the Child in His Eyes", "Babooshka", "Running Up that Hill" (as well as its 2012 remix), "Don't Give Up" (a duet with Peter Gabriel), and "King of the Mountain". David Gilmour of Pink Floyd received her first demo and was impressed & helped he .She attended interpretive dance classes taught by Lindsay Kemp, a former teacher of David Bowie, and mime training with Adam Darius. "Wuthering Heights" topped the UK and Australian charts and became an international hit. She became the first woman to reach number one in the UK charts with a self-penned song.She has a soprano vocal range. Her music is eclectic, varying styles even within an album. Her songs span genres as diverse as rock, pop, alternative and art rock.Even in her earliest works on the piano she wove together many diverse influences, combining classical music, rock, and a wide range of ethnic and folk sources. She announced a concert in London from 26 August –1 October 2014, her first live shows in 35 years.
