“The Morane Stairway” by Little Trooper is the new project by David Hanke, better known as the musical mastermind behind Renegades Of Jazz and resident DJ at Hamburg’s legendary Mojo Club. When he was travelling around Europe in the last twelve months, he was mesmerized. „It is pure joy meeting new people, visiting places you always wanted to go and playing out your own music to a different crowd every night.“

Hanke was hooked, high on a heavy schedule of bookings, remixes and production work, long journeys on planes, sleeping in trains, waiting in stations and on airports also proved to be an ordeal at some stage. „Little Trooper’s music in my head all the time, and it was not exactly what you might expect from Renegades Of Jazz.”

Little Trooper’s debut “The Moran Stairway” is an album full of cool beats and charming hooks. „Think of a trip through the unexplored territories of your mind,“ David Hanke explains. „The little panda who is Little Trooper is thrown into a world which sometimes is not his own.“ His journey is adventurous and dangerous („Journey In A Barrell“), disturbing with the need to find a way-out („Hidden Hatchway“), often spaced-out and psychedelic („Barbarella 1-9-6“) and even futuristic („Arden Galaxy“). But at the end of the day Little Trooper’s travels find him moving on with confidence („Stand Up“) and returning home safely („Marching Home“).

„The Morane Stairway“ is a complete home recording affair. „To be travelling with Little Trooper has changed my way of working completely,“ David Hanke tells with a happy smile. „It’s all about going your own way, not being too hip about what is the order of the day and looking further than just the next day.”
