Harel Shachal was a faculty member at the New School University in New York City at the program for Jazz and Contemporary Music where he was the director of the Middle Eastern and World Music Ensembles 2002-2009. Today Harel is teaching at the CJS academic program where he is also the director of the Middle Eastern and the World Music Ensembles. Harel is the Director of the Turkish Workshop where he continues to enrich the learning experience of the Makam. Harel perform regularly with his bands: ANISTAR, The Ottomans & Turkika.
