"Bum Baby on DoIHave2"

The minute I heard Light$leep3r's original instrumental track "Please Use Rear Exit", somehow it just begs to have some vocals in it. It 's got that certain something that I reckon would work best with some asshole (i.e. me, hehe) whining all over it. So I immediately asked the sleep3r if I could mess around with it, and of course the mofo said yes. Besides, this is the first time that his track would actually have vocals in it. Not to mention, its about time for us to actually work on a sleep3r track together, discounting my lyric and production contributions to his Moaner Lisa project, and his remix work for various FoodShelterAndClothing tracks as well. So I wrote a bit of new lyrics, tried it but the bitch just don't work as I thought it would. Until, I remembered this 1992 fs&c track which we included in our debut called "DoIHave2". It's actually a freakin "proto-emo" song with no guitars in it! Hehe. Seriously though, if memory serves, I wrote it as a Cure-like track, with whiny pseudo Robert Smith vocal stylings, and it was originally recorded live (like most of our old tracks) with Jem on bass, Joel Pen on synths, and Hugene on drums around 1993. anyhow, I updated the lyrics a bit, and adapted a different vocal approach, which I reckon is more like from a stoner bum's perpective (pun intended). And if you have to ask...yes, I was stoned when I recorded the vox for maximum effect! Lol c'mon, I have to be "method" when doing vocals, hehe. By the way, if you listen close enough, I quoted New Order's "Leave Me Alone" in the interlude part which I did on a freakin' whim, thinkin' I could just delete it in the final mix, but being a knicking bastard that I am, I left it alone so to speak, hehe. Production wise, I just added a bit of synths, and fx samples around the original track for that "spacey" effect. Now, I don't want to sound like an emo bitch, but I actually shed a tear or two after hearing the final mix! The damn thing just brought back a lot of crazy memories, both good and bad. So my gratitude goes out to the light one for letting me mess around with this wonderful track. This is therapy for me m8! Cheers for the memories, and yes, emo still sucks!
