Letum Ascensus was formed in the summer of 1995. Founding members Carlos Vergara
(drums), Sam Fuentes (guitar), Carlos Hernandez (guitar), Eduardo "Cuco"
Avila (bass) and Eric Ayala on vocals. The members met in Los Angeles Area in California for a music session. Each one shared their own distinct musical
influences. The session turned out to be the perfect gathering of Demonic endowment.
The band was formed, but had no name. What name should they choose that could capture the morbid tunes that sprung from them? After many suggestions, an acquaintance came up with Letum Ascensus meaning "for sudden death" in Latin. Once agreed, the members started their journey to raising hell upon this earth.
The band has made line up changes; their current members are Rick Jovel (drums), Sam Fuentes (guitar), Aramis Aredondo(bass) and Boris Bonillo (vocals). They started their Brutal Atrocities in 2004. The band's sound is loud hard-hitting and precise drums, choppy low tuning with aggressive bloody riffs, and monstrous gut-chopping inhuman vocals.
Napalm Death, Death, Decide, Brutal Truth and Cannibal Corpse inspired this band. The band has not looked back since day one and has played with Cannibal Corpse, Brutal Truth, Morbid Angel, Immolation, Suffocation, Kataklysm and has played in large LA Death Metal Festivals; Gathering of the bestial legions, The Muderfest.
Today Letum Ascensus is quickly becoming one of the most brutal death metal bands in the greater Los Angeles Area and getting stronger and more popular than ever. They are and will continue to produce hard-hitting, head smashing and bone breaking death metal for the masses!

The Church of the 8th Day is just as let down by the news that DISMEMBER has canceled their US tour due to financial reasons. With the status of GRAVE still being unknown, we here at the Church of the 8th Day would like to apologize to all the supporters of Death Metal but offer up an alternative. Rather then let the status of two legendary bands dictate the scene lets put our faith and support into the bands that push for a new day in Death Metal. The Church of the 8th Day has always supported the underground and we believe in the fans and their support as well. With this being said, the show must go on. Instead of canceling the show we had booked for Friday December 1st we’re going have 5 of Los Angeles’s best Death Metal bands play a local showcase plus we’re working on a few surprises for the masses as well. Of course the door price will drop considerably from 18 dollars to only 8 dollars and for those who purchased tickets in advance you’ll be offered a cash refund for the difference in price. So, rather then walk away from this show and the scene, come out and celebrate the fact that the underground will never die, even when it’s dealt a massive blow.

we will still play on Friday Dec. 15th @ the" ShowCase Theater" in Corona, and The "Jumping Turtle" on Dec. 16th in San Marcos for you guys as we did last friday at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood.

After so long and after so much bullshit, Letum Ascensus put their final thought into what will be one of the most awaited musical productions of the Los Angeles scene.
All of the people that followed and supported Letum Ascensus throughout the years know how difficult it has been for the band to get this album out!
After facing the loss of band members, empty offers, disappointments, budget cuts, personal injuries, and just purely all the shit that underground bands have to go through, we kept this going; we stayed exposed, playing as many times as we could and never gave up. The faces of the people who supported us and the words of those who found the way to let us know how much our music and lyrics got to their hearts and their minds, especially the effort to maintain the local scene alive, they are the ones that gave us strength not to look back. With the greatest effort from each band member and each one of us overcoming huge and unimaginable obstacles. we got it done! This recording if for you guys. Thanks to all of you who helped in any way and thanks to all eternal members of the Metal community.
We hope to fulfill your expectations because we have definitely fulfilled ours!
