THOSE MAGNIFICENT MEN AND THEIR MUSIC MACHINES - 4
Adolphe Sax (6 November 1814 – 7 February 1894)
Antoine-Joseph "Adolphe" Sax was a Belgian musical instrument designer and musician who played the flute and clarinet, and who is well known for having invented the saxophone. He also invented the saxotromba, saxhorn and saxtuba.
Patented on 28 June 1846, the saxophone was invented for use in both orchestras and concert bands. Composer Hector Berlioz wrote approvingly of the new instrument in 1842. By 1846 Sax had designed, on paper, a full range of saxophones (from sopranino to subcontrabass). Although they never became standard orchestral instruments, the saxophones made his reputation and secured him a job, teaching at the Paris Conservatoire in 1857.

CREATOR OF THE ELGART SOUND : CHARLES ALBERTINE
Charles Albertine was among the premier arrangers of the space-age pop era, shaping the direction of easy listening through his work with the Three Suns and Les & Larry Elgart. Albertine was born in Passaic, NJ in 1929, and began playing piano at age five; in subsequent years he mastered a number of woodwinds, and after high school played oboe with the Radio City Music Hall pit band. A stint as a tenor saxophonist behind Sammy Kaye followed, and in 1952 Albertine was tapped as the arranger for Les Elgart's swing band; he would later write a number of songs for the group as well, and Elgart's brother Larry later recorded a complete album of Albertine compositions titled Music for a Barefoot Ballerina. Still, he earned his greatest notoriety as an arranger, taking full advantage of stereo technology to create some of the boldest and most dynamic orchestrations of the period -- characterized by its steady tempos and clear melodies. The so-called "Elgart Sound" also spotlighted a distinctive interplay between trumpets, trombones and reeds, restricting guitars and drums to the background. While continuing to collaborate with the Elgarts, Albertine also began working with the Three Suns, arranging classic RCA "Living Stereo" releases like Movin' & Groovin', Fever & Smoke and On a Magic Carpet. He additionally worked on recordings from Sammy Kaye and Lawrence Welk before relocating to Hollywood in 1964, arranging and conducting scores for films and television.

TREES
"Trees" is a lyric poem by American poet Joyce Kilmer
Trees" is frequently included in poetry anthologies and has been set to music several times—including a popular rendition by Oscar Rasbach, performed by singers Nelson Eddy, Robert Merrill, and Paul Robeson.

MHO
The original song is hardly recognizable and that...... is another fine proof of the arranging skills of Charles Albertine, "standard" arranger of the Les Elgart Orchestra.
(Listen to one of several classic recordings here on YT to find out yourself :) Steady swingin' saxes, amusing 'conversations' between trombones, trumpets and the same saxes plus ... much more to be discovered here ! Enjoy (the ride) !
