music lovers, gospel music powerhouse, LeJuene Thompson is
back. After a brief hiatus following the release of her solo artist
debut, Soul Inspiration, LeJuene is ready to ascend to the next
level of her ministry.
Currently, LeJuene is working on her second (2nd) solo project.
Like with her first album, LeJuene’s sole purpose for this
record is to give God glory. However, LeJuene exhibits more
intensity and fervor in that purpose and has matured a great deal
creatively and in her relationship with God. While her first
album was more inspirational, LeJuene has managed to escape
the hype likened to that of creating her first album, in order to
allow this project to delve more deeply into praise and worship.
In addition to her music, LeJuene would now like to expand
her ministry to include speaking/teaching. As a woman of God and mother herself, LeJuene
has a heart to appeal to mothers and young women, sharing the life, joy and peace of God. On
the musical front, she desires to cross bridges over various genres without compromising who
she is, but always exhibiting who God is.
Before stepping out on her own to attain her current eminence, LeJuene was a featured vocalist
with Gospel’s award-winning ensemble, Donald Lawrence and the Tri-City Singers. She most
notably turned heads across the dial in early 2000 with her lead vocal on the group’s smash hit,
“Testify.” The energetic cut from their Stellar Award winning album, tri-city4.com, not only
topped Gospel playlists from coast to coast, but also peaked at No. 13 on Billboard Magazine’s
“Hot Dance Music/Club Play” chart. It also earned LeJuene the title “Diva in Waiting” from
Billboard.
Even prior to her stint with the Tri-City Singers, LeJuene had already begun to make her mark
on the world of gospel music. She joined John P. Kee’s renowned choir in the mid-80’s and
performed and recorded with them for four years. She would then sing and tour with a number
of local choirs before joining the group, Promise, who released a major label album in 1990.
Now, years and a great deal of sowing later, LeJuene has finally fulfilled her long-lived dream to
be her own woman, singing her own song. As such, she has achieved the freedom to realize the
dreams and visions that God has given her. However, she still approaches both her music and
ministry with the same hard work, determination and purpose that’s driven her to what she sees
now as both a wonderful ending and exciting new beginning.
