Pisgah Praise Team, "STOP PRETENDING," written by Angela Roberts - Video
PUBLISHED:  Sep 15, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
9/15/13: I experienced one of the most precious blessings of my life today, along with a great sense of healing. Our praise team sang "Stop Pretending" during our worship service at Pisgah UMC. I lost my Daddy on 9/17/09. About 2 weeks later, I was driving his old 1973 Jeep from Greenville to Aynor, SC... a long ride when you have no radio and the maximum speed is 45mph or I would bounce to the top cover! I began humming to the jeep motor, putting together some lyrics, still trying to make sense of the despair in my heart. (During that time I learned that it was oK to let God and my family & friends carry me when I felt like my soul was dying and it was hard to find my next breath.) It took a while for me to realize the amount of healing God has done in my heart over the past 4 years. Toward the end of last month, our praise team was practicing and I pulled out "Stop Pretending" just to see what would happen. We ran through it a few times and hearing our team singing it together was awesome - it gave me chills. They agreed to sing it as our special for today's service (9/15), which also happened to be Daddy's birthday - how like God to affirm such healing in my heart. My prayer before service was that we would honor God through music, and that the words would bless someone's heart. I cannot thank my praise team family enough for today's GIFT - love y'all so much!
I like to "hide" behind the team while playing piano... I tend to break down if I can see the faces of my loved ones while singing something so dear to my heart! We're blessed at Pisgah to be a close church family.
Thank you, Lord, for Your healing power, for Your abundant love, for Your gift of Salvation to all who will believe, and for carrying me, always. Amen.

"Stop Pretending" - Written by Angela Roberts on 9/29/09, Dedicated to My Daddy

No one can feel the hurt you feel but Jesus
The tension's like a knot that won't undo
Why can't you be satisfied in knowing
That Jesus will handle everything for you

(CHORUS)
Call on Jesus, when you think your soul is dying
Call His Name, when you feel you cannot breathe
Surrender to the Lord your Everything
Stop pretending you are fine
He's the One true God, and He will never leave

Don't wait until the world around you crashes
To fall on your knees and talk to God right there
You're missing out on life's potential blessings
If you don't begin and end each day in prayer
(Chorus)
