Los Lobos han sido perseguidos y extinguidos casi en su totalidad en la peninsula Iberica. Este Romance de la trashumancia Extremeña ademas de ser recuerdo de la historia de ese 'lupocidio', para mi sugiere la desconocida figura arquetipica del chivo expiatorio, el sacrificio del enemigo, el otro. Con colectiva hipocresía y con un sentido de derecho digno del espiritu de las antiguas cruzadas cuando en realidad lo que se persigue son los muchos beneficios que la muerte de la loba nos proporcionará, esto es sin entrar en los enormes temas de violencia genero y edad que esta inocente cancion de pastores nos sugiere. En cierto modo ni necesitamos que la loba nos robe la borrega, pero es una muy buena excusa para su persecution y sacrificio. Hay tantas situaciones en el panorama Internacional en que veo reflejadas estas insidiosas persecuciones tanto en lo local como en lo global.
Nos haría tanto bien a los humanos sacar esta antigua estrategia de las oscuras cavernas de la inconsciencia y detenidamente como si de un familiar lejano, del que secretamente nos avergonzamos se tratase, le dedicasemos tiempo y la atencion de mirarle directamente a los ojos y a la entraña ..

Wolfs have been persecuted and extinguished almost entirely in the Iberian Peninsula, this migratory romance from Extremadura (16th century), besides being the memory of the history of that 'luppocide', it suggests the archetypal role of the scapegoat. To sacrifice the enemy, the other, in a collective hypocritical rampant hunt, worthy of the spirit of the Crusades. In reality what is sought after are the many benefits, external and internal, that the death of the wolf will bring to us, that is without addressing the themes of gender and age that this inocent pastoral song suggest. We don't even need the wolf to steal the lamb, but it is a great justification for the hunt to take place. There are so many situations in todays international affairs in which we see many of these insidious righteous persecutions going on all over the place in the local and the global.
Wouldn't it do so much good to take this old human strategy out of our unconscious caves and stare it right in to the eye and the guts for a change?
