Latino Grooves is South Australia's most prominent and professional Latin entertainment company, specialising in dance tuition, events, night club productions, festivals, international concerts, as well as corporate and private functions. Its founder is multi-talented musician, dancer and DJ, Hugo Salcedo. Born in Cartagena, Colombia, Hugo's passion for his culture saw him work tirelessly in the Latin community since his arrival in Australia in 1999, finally establishing Latino Grooves in 2005. Hugo is also the Director of Hugo Salcedo & his TNT, one of Australia’s most successful Latin bands.
Hugo is credited by many as having introduced Salsa to Adelaide. An impromptu performance many years ago had people begging him to teach. The rest as they say is history.
In 2007, Hugo joined forces with well-known Latin dance instructor and performer Julia Gonzalez who has a wealth of knowledge and experience from her years teaching and performing in Sydney - the capital of Salsa and Latin dance in Australia.
Hugo and Julia are extremely sought after and respected Latin dancers and personalities within the Australian Salsa community. They are considered Adelaide’s representatives, having been invited to perform and teach at Australia’s most prestigious Latin dance events such as the Sydney Salsa Congress, New Zealand Salsa Congress, Australian Salsa Championships, Sydney Latin Fiesta and the Australian Salsa Classic to name a few.
With 3 locations across Adelaide, Latino Grooves provides superior Latin dance tuition through casual classes and structured courses with the finest Latin dance instructors in South Australia.
Through their passion for and commitment to Latin dance, music and culture, over the years Latino Grooves have been responsible for many great events such as the Latino Grooves Festival (formerly known as Tropicana Festival), international concerts such as Sonora Carruseles, regular Latino parties at the Governor Hindmarsh Hotel and the Arkaba Hotel as well as providing superior Latin entertainment right across Australia.
