Director Bio:
Lauren Rothery is a self-taught writer/director based in Brooklyn, NY. As a filmmaker she is drawn to themes of isolation, identity and magical realism; and the idea of blending the mundane with the extraordinary. Lauren is passionate about shooting on film, the bulk of her work is on Super 16mm and Super 8mm. In all of her work, she seeks to hold on to a sense of humanity, fluidity and imperfection.
Inspired & the Sleep is a dream-pop band based in San Diego, California consisting of a revolving lineup surrounding singer-songwriter Max Greenhalgh & multi-instrumentalist Bryce Outcault. Focusing on rhythm and melody, Greenhalgh’s loop-based demos are rewoven with additional psychedelic/jazz threads to construct groove-centered pop songs. Determined on continuous reinvention, the band is moving towards a more refined and darker approach to arranging with polished production while retaining hints of Greenhalgh's previous lo-fi ponderings.
This song was constructed around Max's demo of the song filled out by a drum groove from the wonderful David Mead & the sounds of a vintage 80s keyboard a Juno-60.
