DESCRIPTION: Mukasa discusses his friendship with Kwame Ture (aka Stokely Carmichael) and the origins of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). He reveals and explains the tensions and philosophical differences that arose between the more aggressive and militant youth of SNCC and the more traditional "old guard" of Dr. Martin Luther King's Southern Leadership Conference and the NAACP. He reveals that this divide was actually a unified strategy that resulted in such efforts as the Albany Movement,Selma, and protests against an unjust war in Viet Nam.
