Eläköön Son! on dokumentti kuubalaisesta musiikista ja sitä rakastavien ihmisten välisestä ystävyydestä. Musiikki ei tunne rajoja; sillä on voimaa ylittää valtameret ja poliittiset erimielisyydet ja saattaa yhteen ihmisiä eri puolilta maailmaa.

Toukokuussa 2013 Suomi-Kuuba-seura ja Kuukumina -yhtye saivat vieraakseen kuubalaisen Sierra Maestran, yhden kaikkien aikojen merkittävimmistä son-yhtyeistä. Ystävyysseuran 50-vuotisjuhlan kunniaksi Sierra Maestra ja Kuukumina esiintyivät yhdessä Maailma Kylässä -festivaalilla.

Suomen Ulkoministeriön tuella toteutettu hanke edisti kuubalaisen musiikin tunnettavuutta Suomessa laajalti. Vierailunsa aikana Sierra Maestra konsertoi myös Sibelius-museossa Turussa ja Helsingissä Pukinmäen peruskoulussa. Lisäksi yhtye levytti kappaleen Maailman musiikin keskuksen tuottamalle lastenmusiikkilevylle.

Long live the Son! is a documentary about Cuban music and the friendship between people who love it. There are no boundaries in music, and it has the power to cross oceans and leave behind any political differences bringing people together from all over the world.

In May 2013 the Finnish-Cuban Association together with a Finnish band Kuukumina hosted Sierra Maestra, one of the most influential Cuban son-bands of all times. To honor the 50th anniversary of the Association, Sierra Maestra and Kuukumina performed together at the World Village festival.

The project funded by the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs had as it objective the promotion of Cuban music in Finland. Among other activities, Sierra Maestra performed at the Sibelius museum in Turku, and at the Pukinmäki elementary school in Helsinki. In addition, Sierra Maestra recorded a song to the compilation of children´s music produced by the Global Music Centre.
