Konx Om Pax - Anticipate - Video

DESCRIPTION:
A few years ago I stumbled across a thick sounding and compelling piece of percussionless music by a producer with the interesting title Konx Om Pax and at the time it appeared to be all I could find bar a handful of far less compelling similarly ambient offerings. Then I was to find a Konx Om Pax remix of a Neill Landstrumm record called 'Peer Impressions'. The KOP remix of Peer Impressions is just over 6 minutes of seriously acquired taste minimal techno for those moments when the strobe flashes seem to blink distinctly on and off in jarringly slow, semi hallucinogenic states of utter escapist forest raving far-outness - and I bloody loved it. I started to build a mix around it but the inspiration it gave me for the mix and the journey I want to create within it made it difficult in the final third, so it's something I have to one side at the moment while I wait for the right tracks to come by and fall into place as it were. For all the jazz, blues, funk and soul I have within my heart, there is also a solid place for this alien experience as heard in the occasional Konx Om Pax production (especially the Peer Impressions remix). I have since heard two full LP's from KOP and while there are plenty of tracks that simply do not resonate with me, when looking hard enough, there are the abstract little ones that make the search through often empty sounding experimental music well worth the effort. Konx Om Pax are elegant in their own mysterious way, but only from time to time do they sing out to me. Here we have the closing track of their LP 'Selective Recall' where we find them strutting an altogether brighter melodic edge. It's a finely simple track but given ample depth as is the way when KOP really delivers. It's a really nice synth melody basically. I look forward to more releases from Konx Om Pax for the odd reason such as this one. Would just like to add that they have a decent little remix of the Portico Quartet record '4096 Colours', again pumping out the spacious, yet thick and haunting atmospheres. All quality. Plus Portico Quartet - a true channel favourite.
