Konrad

Konrad is the musical expression of Rock Island, Illinois resident Jeffrey Konrad. Konrad's music puzzles together a unique brand of vocal poetics with a sorted sonic DNA that exhibits strains of indie, folk and electronic. Konrad has released music in the past on various record labels including: Deep Elm, Future Appletree and Diskatopia as well as Radical Turf (an imprint he founded with the purpose of releasing compilation albums and various solo material). In a previous incarnation, Konrad released experimental electronic music under the moniker "Robot USA" as well as some folksy singer-songwriter musings as "Struggle in the Hive" (a collaboration with Patrick Stolley). Konrad's debut album "Loose Canyons" charted on the CMJ Top-200 upon it's release in 2008. Konrad's recent effort "Shadow Boxing" (Radical Turf) unites the many various musical styles that Konrad draws inspiration from into an eclectic and cohesive musical statement. Shadow Boxing, recorded over the course of 2 years, is a panoramic of an artist documenting the ups and downs of everyday and not-so-everyday routine. Konrad's Shadow Boxing displays a diversity and originality of sound which transcends the conventional.
