In the spirit of Grammy Award winner Kirk Whalum's most popular cover album, For You (1998), he returns with a gospel-inspired instrumental cover album entitled, #LOVECOVERS, featuring interpretations of gospel music's most inspirational hits. This first-ever, globally-distributed independent project of his 30+ year career, set to be released worldwide April 11, 2017, includes time-honored classics from The Clark Sisters’, “You Brought The Sunshine”, to Donnie McClurkin’s, "Speak To My Heart”, both seamlessly paired with re-imagined popular songs like Stevie Wonder’s, “Have A Talk With God”, Beyoncé’s, “Love on Top”, and Marvin Gaye’s, “God Is Love”. #LOVECOVERS also includes Whalum’s only studio recording of Dolly Parton's, “I Will Always Love You”, since his appearance on Whitney Houston’s 1992 recording from the film, The Bodyguard.

#LOVECOVERS was volitionally crafted to combine "a soul-jazz love", with contemporary gospel music, and titled to address the far-reaching, God-covering love that Whalum believes is applicable to issues he, himself, is dutifully, passionately living out, from religious tolerance to social justice. “The gospel is about love. Love makes sure that we’re covered, for instance, with health care”, as Whalum shared in a recent interview with The Pace Report. “#LOVECOVERS is a soundtrack for being a good citizen in this world.”

As produced by the legendary, sibling production team Cedric and Victor Caldwell, Whalum’s unique, soulful ‘voice’ was paired with the contributions of featured artists like his brother, Kevin Whalum, trailblazers Donnie McClurkin, BeBe Winans, and others, along with new voices which are equally prolific.
