DIRTY RED “The dirty of the dirtiest”

Jeremiah Dawson, the rap artist known as Dirty Red was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Where he was given the name of Dirty Red, because in his own words, “When I was about four years old, I got it from my next door neighbor(Etna Bailey and Beshay) in the hood, because I’m light skinned, so, in the south, I’m considered red boned, or red skinned, and every time they used to dress me up, and tell me not to go outside and get dirty, I always got dirty. So, now people tell me not to do this and not to do that, but I still get down and dirty. Tell me not to jump in it and I’m still the type of person who will jump in it, or jump at the chance to express some originality Jeremiah, being no stranger to urban living, found a way to express his frustrations of growing up under difficult circumstances, by channeling his thoughts, his dreams, his love, and his hate, by using his creative poetry. Even early on, Dirty Red’s lyrics highlighted his consideration of the spiritual dimension to life, as well as the material. In 1996 Dirty Red formed a rap group called Southern Conspiracy with Jaade Jackson, the rap artist known as J-Sho. They chose the name, to complement their particular lyrical composition. Their style represented a hard, and soft, verse flow. It created a unique blend.

Though the later years Dirty Red went on to develop a solo music career. Through his passion his discovered a sound that was a blues like melody mingled with gangster rap. With that Dirty Red came up with his own company called King Being Records. With the motto of ‘Keep God first, get money and then do something with it’.

He founded King Being Records, an independent record label, and helped to create the King Being Family, a network of creative personalities, and artists. This was his formula to spread his rap skills, to preserve his lyrical technique, nurture his lifestyle, and harness his own chosen principals, a Generation X rapper.

In 2003 Dirty Red entered in the annual birthday bash hosted by the Atlanta radio station Hot 107.9. From performing the club banger ‘Crank This Shit Up’, to the female crowd pleaser, ‘Shorty, Cutty, Buddy, Freak,’ he gave the audience an energetic, head bobbing, performance. After that, Interscope Records invited Dirty Red to enter into a contest that was going to be shown on the cable network Showtime. It was a special show called ‘Next’ where they would pick two rap artist from five to six cities, and through a process of elimination, the last rapper would be given a contract with Interscope Records, but Dirty Red declined, choosing instead to continue to sow his own seeds, taking more time to network throughout the hip-hop, and rap community. He went into the underground network of the rap circuit making mix cds. He performed at clubs, at college shows, appeared on talk, and radio shows getting airplay along the way, song after song getting better and better. Selling over 7000 units with one mix cd without putting major promotion behind it. This shows how much the people have an ear for his style. To illustrate this point, Dirty Red recently became aware of the fact that his music was available on the Internet. The people are ready for Dirty Red. As he says “I’m here to inspire instead of expire”.

When asked how far are you trying to take it in the industry, he responded, “I’m just taking it, I’m not some superstar, I’m just me. Taking it one day at a time. I’m putting out an album that’s going to inspire, instead of expire”.
